Κυπαρισσήεντα την αναφέρει ο Όμηρος, Αρκαδιά την λέγαν’ τον Μεσαίωνα –πιθανότατα επειδή εδώ ήρθαν και εγκαταστάθηκαν πολλοί Αρκάδες προκειμένου να γλιτώσουν τις επιδρομές των Σλάβων.
